This is a university research project.
What we collect
- Your nickname and in-game state (GrindBucks, items, levels, streaks).
- Everything you write and click while working: chat messages, votes, ratings, reports, and skips.
- If you choose to fill in the Onboarding Census: optional demographic answers. Every question can be skipped, and answers are only ever reported in aggregate (e.g. "60% of annotators use chatbots daily") — never tied to your name.
- Standard server logs (IP addresses), kept only for operating the service.
Why we collect it
Your chats, votes, and ratings become training and evaluation data for research on simulating and judging human-like conversation (an academic project, not a commercial one).
The license you give us
By playing, you license your contributions (chat text, votes, ratings, written reports) to this project for research use, including possible inclusion in published, anonymized research datasets. Nicknames are replaced with anonymous IDs in any published data. Demographic answers are never included row-by-row in any dataset.
House rules
- You must be 16 or older to play.
- Be civil in anything you write — it may be read by researchers and other players.
- GrindBucks are fake, worthless, and cannot be bought, sold, or redeemed. Ever. Sorry.
- The service is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind.
No tracking
No ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers. The only things stored in your browser are your nickname and your in-progress game state (your current task, and which notifications you've seen) — all of it required for the game to function, none of it sent anywhere.
Deleting your data
Email ezacct4other+GrindIncGWAP@gmail.com with your nickname and we'll delete your account and all contributions from the database and future dataset exports.
